Veterinary / Equine

Through our veterinary division, Equine Health Labs, we provide an exclusive diagnostic lab service to detect blood flow irregularities in horses. Blood viscosity is especially critical to the equine population because horses are natural blood boosters. This means that they store a reserve of red blood cells in their spleens which are released during exercise.

The equine athlete can achieve greater oxygen carrying capacity than any human, but due to hyperviscosity of the blood, horses face the critical danger of overextending the blood into a congested, ischemic state. Through viscosity testing services, we provide the necessary insight to detect and treat hemodynamic problems in the horse population.
